Dr Arun Pajaniappane, widely known as Dr Arun, is an internationally recognised Consultant in Audiovestibular Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London (FRCP).
He is the Co-founder and Clinical Director of the internationally reputed Harley Street Audiovestibular Clinic, where he leads on clinical governance and quality assurance. Within the NHS, he practises at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, home to one of the largest and most established Audiovestibular Medicine departments in the UK.
Dr Arun’s clinical expertise spans hearing loss, tinnitus, dizziness, and balance disorders, with a particular focus on Auditory Neuropathy, vestibular migraine and complex vertigo syndromes. With dual training in ENT (Otolaryngology) and Audiovestibular Medicine, he brings a uniquely integrated medical–surgical perspective to patient assessment and management. Over the course of his career, he has treated thousands of adults and children with complex auditory and vestibular conditions.
A dedicated educator, Dr Arun serves as Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s, University of London, and as Faculty Member at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) in India. He is lead clinician and Course Director for MedExcel Academy, a renowned institution for postgraduate medical education. He is frequently invited to lecture at major scientific meetings and postgraduate courses worldwide.
His academic contributions include chapters in highly cited educational textbooks, alongside ongoing research in Vestibular Migraine and Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD). His work has been presented at various national and international forums. He has served as site lead for several national multicentre clinical trials and remains actively engaged in translational research aimed at improving diagnostic and rehabilitative outcomes for patients with vestibular disorders.
Beyond his clinical and academic commitments, Dr Arun is the Honorary Secretary of the British Association of Audiovestibular Physicians (BAAP), contributing to policy, training, and professional standards across the UK.
Dr Arun obtained his BSc and MBBS degrees from University College London (UCL) Medical School, followed by postgraduate training in General Medicine, Surgery, and ENT, earning the MRCS and DOHNS qualifications before completing specialist training in Audiovestibular Medicine. He also holds a Master’s degree (with Merit) and continues to champion excellence in evidence-based vestibular and auditory practice worldwide.
Outside of medicine, Dr Arun is an avid football fanand lifelong technology enthusiast, still nostalgic about his first ZX Spectrum computer.
